The tough Pacific crossing. From Galapagos to Australia. Looking for the trade winds, and the favourable current

I was at three degrees southern latitude, 500 miles West von Galapagos without wind and with favourable current. I expected to get the trade wind at two degrees further to the south, but when I reached it, there was no wind either.
At night, the disturbing silence of the calm sea without any waves tortured me with nightmares and sleeplessness. There was not a ship on the horizon; the nights were clear with an increasingly brighter and bigger moon, and the atmosphere was charged with ghosts rising up from the depth of the sea to drag me to the bottom of the ocean.
